On August 12th we will enter Mercury in retrograde. Here is exactly what that means and how it will affect us.
Three or four times a year, Mercury passes the earth in it’s orbit. It slows down as it rounds the bend and creates an optical illusion that makes it appear to stop and spin backward. That is when we experience a Mercury retrograde period. The planet isn’t really moving backward but much like two trains passing each other it would appear that one is going backwards when the other slows down.
In Astrology, as Mercury speeds by it creates “turbulence” which we feel the affects of on Earth. This occurs for about three and a half weeks and as Mercury is the ruler of communication, travel, and technology all of these things may feel somewhat chaotic during the retrograde. Taking time to slow down and carefully analyze situations is one of the keys to getting through this period.
Although it can be a testing time, it can also bring about extremely positive outcomes. Much like walking through glue, it forces you to slow down and take a closer look at situations. If you are willing to take the time to go into greater depth, it really can be a blessing in disguise.
