I have always suffered from headaches and it’s dreadful sister migraines! Before grabbing a pain killer, I recommend trying a few of these natural remedies to help with your pain.
Having a headache is a sign that you could be dehydrated, so drink up!
For temporary relief, try rubbing your temples or getting a neck, back, head, or shoulder massage. My mum always used to massage my hand and put pressure in the areas below your thumb on your palm, this is one of my favourite form of relief as I find it does work with me.
You can use this oil on when you are massaging your temples. It has a really nice soothing and cooling effect which can help relieve your pain also.
Growing up in an Asian household, white flower and tiger balm ( below ) were essential in our medicine cabinets.White Flower Analgesic Balm (also called Pak Fah Yeow) is made from a traditional blend of aromatic herbs such as lavender and mint. This cooling balm helps relieve pain of minor headaches and pains made worse from poor circulation or inclement weather.
Tiger Balm is made of unique blends of herbal ingredients such as Natural Camphor, menthol, clove oil and cajuput oil. All which provides an alternative way to relieve the pain of tension headaches.
Chew on ginger root or make ginger tea. It helps reduce inflammation of the blood vessels in the head, hence easing the pain
Yoga and stretching out helps, I like to do classic neck stretching as it helps release tension in that area which can stiffen and tighten up when suffering from headaches.
Avoid MSG foods
Many people who suffer headaches find that foods containing MSG triggers migraines or other types of headaches, possibly due to the fact that it excites our neurons.
